A woman walked into her bathroom at home. As she did, she saw her husband weighing himself on the bathroom scales, sucking in his stomach. The woman thought to herself, “He thinks that he will weigh less by sucking in his stomach.” So, the woman rather sarcastically said to her husband, “That’s not going to help.”
“Sure it will,” he said. “It’s the only way I can see the numbers.”
Some time ago, my rear view mirror came of the windshield and I had to glue it back on in order to see what was behind me. I got to looking at that small mirror comparing it to the large windshield that I was gluing it to, and there I realized that the designers of that car wanted me to be able to see much more of what was out in front of me than what was behind me. The rear view mirror is very small in contrast to the windshield that you look through as you drive forward. That tells me that where I am going is much more important than where I have been! Yesterday is an invaluable teacher and priceless guide. Yet, nothing in last year can be changed or affected by what I do from this point forward. The only possibility of change lies ahead.
The same is true in life. We have a brand new year with endless possibilities and we must make the best of it with the help of God.
I propose we let God do something inexplicably awesome in 2017. What say you?
